Volunteer & Leadership India
From the moment you step off the plane, India will overwhelm your senses with the smells of samosas cooking in street stalls, the vibrant colours of sari-clad women, the sound of a hundred conversations at once in one of 16 official languages, and the thick, sticky heat.
Boasting a rising population of more than one billion, India is as vast as it is crowded—a place to expect the unexpected. Indeed, that’s what often makes traveling in the subcontinent a learning experience filled with both challenges and inspiration. A lack of healthy and stable living conditions is evident everywhere, and the people are so culturally diverse that no first, or thousandth look, can hope to categorize them. This year our program will be based in the northern part of India. Participants will be spending some time in the country capital of Delhi, with the majority of time being spent in Udaipur located in the state of Rajasthan.
Reflections and intensive leadership training will press you to take your volunteer experiences to the next level. You’ll analyze the complex social issues that you see every day of your journey—such as poverty and child labour—and think critically about how they affect India and Asia as a whole.
Volunteer and Leadership India offers an intimate encounter with a culture steeped in history. The experience will never leave you, as India is a place that you not only see, but also feel.
