In Beijing, you’ll get an insider’s view of what is quickly becoming the world’s largest economic superpower. In rural China, a remote and impoverished area where the average family lives on less than $90 per year, participants come face-to-face with the challenges of development in a vast and struggling rural countryside. Traveling through the diverse regions of northern or southern China, you will visit monumental sites such as the Forbidden City and the Great Wall, spend time in the nation’s bustling capital, and sample China’s many regional dishes.

Through volunteering and teaching in local communities, take a glimpse into the lives of rural people who tackle the challenges of adapting to change in a rapidly urbanizing nation.
