Volunteer & Leadership China
If you’re ready for a fascinating adventure in a vast, diverse, and ancient country, Volunteer & Leadership China awaits. Deeply rooted in tradition and relatively unknown to the outside world, China is a country of profound contrasts. Join Leaders Today for a chance to experience China like few visitors ever have!
In the midst of a massive and fast-paced transformation few nations have ever experienced, China is in the process of defining its role in this century. You’ll get an insider’s view of what will most likely become the world’s newest economic superpower.
In rural China, a remote and impoverished area where the average family lives on less than $90 US per year, participants face the challenges of development in a vast and struggling rural countryside. Working with local communities, you and your group volunteer in Free The Children schools and host day camps for Chinese youth. Providing the gift of education is a great legacy to leave.
Through volunteering and teaching in local communities, you’ll get a unique glimpse into the lives of rural people challenged with adapting to change in a rapidly urbanizing nation. While teaching at a Free The Children school, participants will forge connections within the local community and lay the groundwork for a future leadership center in China.
Volunteering brings you face to face with real-life struggles and open eyes to the need for cultural dialogue and understanding. This experience is complemented by plenty of time for guided and personal reflection allowing you to process your experiences and think critically about what steps you can take to create positive change wherever you find yourself.
Traveling through the diverse regions of northern or southern China, you will visit monumental sites such as the Forbidden City and the Great Wall, spend time in the nation’s bustling capital, and sample China’s many regional dishes.
Volunteer & Leadership China is for anyone interested in lifelong friendships across international lines, physically challenging adventure, and exploring one of the world’s oldest civilizations.
