Beijing Leadership Academy
Do you want to become a global citizen but don’t know where to start? Does volunteering and helping your community excite your passion? Do you want to learn more about world issues? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then you’re the person we’re seeking. You’ve come to the right place.
Last year marked our 1st Beijing Leadership Academy. Modeled after the Toronto Take Action! Academy, now in it’s ninth year, the Beijing Leadership Academy is an eye-opening week-long day camp for international and Chinese youth to get up to speed on the world’s issues, meet others who share your interest and enthusiasm, develop and hone your leadership skills and become involved in your community.
As a participant, you receive both educational and hands-on learning through seminars, workshops and our newly revised and bestselling curriculum. With three levels of leadership training and English as a Second Language (ESL) curricula, students improve their conversation skills and learn English in a leadership context.
The Academy’s workshops are based on an interactive model that explores the inner-workings of our 7 Steps to Community Involvement and develops skills such as effective communication and fundraising. Special sessions like the renowned World Council and a reception with the community will challenge young people to develop goals and showcase their unique talents.
The staff of Leaders Today Canada, which electrifies global audiences with compelling stories and inspiring words, will facilitate the Academy. Led by Leaders Today’s most senior facilitator, Erin Barton-Chéry, a Canadian student who has traveled the world and directs a home for underprivileged youth, the Academy will help you build your skills and confidence for the long-term. All participants will be issued a certificate recognising their successful completion of a week of leadership training.
At the Beijing Academy participants will craft leadership skills, delve into global citizenship and create life-long friendships. The Beijing Leadership Academy will break down divides by uniting youth from China and around the world. Together, let’s build a network of community volunteers that spans the globe!
