Nine principles of LEV3L
- It begins with me
Recognize that we need to be the person who starts the chain of positive
global transformation. Abandon the negative notion that one person cannot make a difference.
- It takes a child to raise a village
Think positively
about our power to make change. A child can raise its own village,
creating a more peaceful, equitable and compassionate reality for all. We
need not, and should not, wait for others to change the world.
- There is no box
Go beyond “looking outside of the box” and deconstruct the notion that there even is a box. Our possibilities and the world’s possibilities are limitless.
- Take a second look...again
We need to look at problems more that twice. There are multiple solutions to every problem, and multiple understandings of every issue. To achieve understanding, we need to continuously re-evaluate, re-visit and deconstruct.
- Ask questions and question answers
Continuously question answers and definitions you are given as facts or absolutes. Remember that every question is a good question.
- 1 + 1 = 3
The answers we seek are not always the answers we find, or the answers we expect. When we put two great ideas together, we often end up with more than the sum of both parts, proving that what seems impossible is often completely possible.
- Make the ordinary extraordinary
We have the power to turn the mundane into the miraculous, making each ordinary moment extraordinary. Every morning we wake up with another day of clean air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat and hope to give, privileges which are truly extraordinary.
- Nothing is impossible
Craig Kielburger dared to do what
others thought impossible when he stood up for children’s rights at the
age of 12, founding Free The Children. Aim high--you, too, can achieve
your dreams. [the two dashes should actually be one of those long dashes,
but my computer doesn't have one right now.
- Act now
Don’t wait until tomorrow to start changing the world: be the leaders of today. It is our responsibility to use our power as leaders to maximize our potential and change the world. We are the generation we have been waiting for!
