Spencer West

Title: Tour Speaker
Interesting Fact: Spencer is known for Italian cooking, cartwheels, handstands and bird impressions.

Spencer first became involved with Leaders Today in Kenya, participating in a schoolbuilding project in conjunction with the Wesley Smiles Coalition in March, 2008. After travelling across the ocean, and halfway around the globe, Spencer realized his true calling – to motivate and inspire the youth of the world. He is now a part of the Go Global speaking tour, helping young people to believe in themselves and become more socially involved in their communities and abroad.

Spencer received a bachelor’s degree in communication from Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Throughout his academic career, he was involved in many motivational speaking engagements as a spokesperson for disability awareness and overcoming personal obstacles. He was named Most Outstanding Student at his high school in Rock Springs, WY, and was honoured with both the Student Ambassador of the Year Award and the Neisen R. Bank Memorial Award at Westminster College. He was also recognized by the Safari Club International with The Spirit of Courage award, presented to him by General H. Norman Schwarzkopf.

Prior to joining the Leaders Today team, Spencer volunteered with our partner organization, Free The Children, promoting positive change, social awareness and perseverance. In his new role with Leaders Today, his goal is to help young people become more socially aware and to equip them with strong leadership skills so that they can inspire others to change the world.

In his spare time Spencer can be heard singing his lungs out and seen dancing like there’s no tomorrow. He also enjoys cooking for his friends, swimming, watching movies and listening to music from his large collection. Spencer lives by the words of Wesley Cowan: “Be happy every day!” And firmly believes in Margaret Cho’s assertion: “Love is the big booming beat which covers up the noise of hate.”
