Nicole Baden-Clay

Title: Kenya Trips Facilitator
Interesting Fact: Our travelling nurse, Nicole learned to scuba dive in the Red Sea when living and working in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Hailing from Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, Nicole Baden-Clay joined the Leaders Today team in 2008 as a facilitator for the organization’s Kenya Volunteer and Leadership Trips. Her volunteer work with youth in Scouts reminds her of the dedication and capability of young people all over the world. Nicole is excited to combine her dedication to health with her loves of travel and working with youth in her position at Leaders Today.

During university, Nicole took a life-changing journey to Jamaica to volunteer as a nursing student in an inner city health clinic. From there, she lived in Nepal, volunteering with a woman’s organization in the middle of the bustling city of Kathmandu. She fell in love with the adventure of working abroad and made her next stop Saudi Arabia to work in King’s Hospital in the seaside city of Jeddah. Next, Nicole was off to another warm climate—travelling down under to Australia, where she met her husband and co-facilitator Adam during a working holiday! Her travels continued to Europe, South East Asia and all over Canada during a backpacking escapade with her husband. One of her favourite aspects of working as a registered nurse is the profound impact she can have on the lives of the people she meets.

In her spare time, Nicole can often be found enjoying challenging hikes and camping. She also loves step-dancing and toe tapping to Cape Breton fiddles and drums when at home in Nova Scotia. She is inspired by the work of young people all over the world and remembers the words of the founder of Scouting, Lord Baden-Powell, who challenged us to “leave this world a little better than you found it.”
