Interesting Fact: Megan started a school-wide food fight . . . by accident!
Hailing from Canada’s East Coast, Megan joins Leaders Today as international trips coordinator. At 15, Megan attended a travelling youth leadership camp, which opened her eyes to the power of youth to change the world. Inspired, she has worked ever since to make positive changes in her life and in her community. Megan graduated from the University of King’s College in Halifax, Nova Scotia with an honours degree in international development and contemporary studies. She is excited to help youth realize their potential through international trips and turn their dreams into realities.
In high school, Megan kept herself very busy, playing three instruments, acting in the drama club, playing soccer, leading the Youth for Environmental Action Group and sitting on numerous committees, all while holding down a part-time job. Megan continued working part-time throughout university, including jobs slinging pizza dough, serving coffee and wearing a huge cow suit as Daisy, a dairy company mascot. She also sat as the vice president of a women’s charity group, and volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross and her university’s International Development Society. Megan’s itch to experience new cultures has led her throughout Canada, the United States and Europe. In 2006, she participated in an exchange program with the University of Havana in Cuba, during which she lived with a Cuban family, improved her Spanish and toured the beautiful countryside. In the summer of 2007, Megan again had the chance to put her Spanish skills to work, facilitating a Leaders Today International Volunteer and Leadership Trip to Ecuador.
A good book, a cup of tea and a little sunshine make Megan smile. She enjoys spending time outdoors, relaxing by the beach, hanging out with friends and listening to music. Megan believes that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. In the words of author Paulo Coelho, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
